CBD - is it actually magic?
CBD has been a part of my bedtime routine for nearly a year now. I have tried LOADS of types now, and feel I have gone full Goldilocks on them - too hempy/ too thick/ rank aftertaste/ poor dispenser/ cannot feel any effect. But there is one that I keep returning to again and again…. I am now on my 3rd bottle (I go through one a month) and that is Luna and Leaf.
I spoke to Ed Haynes who runs Luna and Leaf to see why it was so good…. He puts it down to the product being organic, the extraction process being highly effective and the carrier oil they use - MCT oil- being high quality (I had previously tried some that use veg oil which is cheap and has a shorter shelf life - hence some of them tasting rancid in the past - again I reckon, not proven).
I know loads of people are new to CBD and it is touted as bit of a wonderstuff in wellness circles. A cure all. This always makes me feel a little uneasy tbh so I thought I would share what it does for me - on a personal level.
The big 3 that CBD brings to me:
I feel calmer
I sleep better
My skin is clearer
That trio is pretty banging to be fair. Powerful.
(and I can see how they are all potentially interlinked too #science)
The biggest change for me is that I wake more feeling more refreshed than previous. And I go to sleep with more ease. I also for the purposes of this used a sleep tracker the month I went back on Luna and leaf after a break for a month, you can see that the quality of my sleep went up through out the month (even through the lockdown that we had in the UK!). It is always nice to see numbers supporting how you feel isn’t it - I used sleep cycle app in case you were wondering.
A few things I have learned through my journey with it:
It takes a while to feel the effect - maybe a week or more. It is not a super quick patch to fix you right now.
Taking breaks from CBD also makes me appreciate how well it works for me when I come back on to it - I think when you are investing in a product it always good to check in that it is working. (I just googled this and apparently according to actual clinical studies it also helps reduce tolerance, so your required dose doesn’t get too high - so there’s another bonus to this practice too)
Taking some in the morning AND some in the evening works best for me.
If you want to get started on your CBD journey I highly recommend Luna + Leaf - you can get a discount if you order via this link (full disclosure I also get a kickback - but I deffo deserve it for bringing this goodness into your life!)
